Short story - madison bielmeier
I sl owed my breath as i she felt down the wet brick wall behind me. My heart was pounding and my body trembles in fear as she hears the sounds of sirens drawing closer. Stealing, I had to steal to survive. I was abandoned on the streets of New York at a young age and was just barely surviving daily off of the scraps others left behind. She holds the diamond close to her as she gets a buzz in her flip phone from an unknown number. I flip it open "Meet me at the docks at 1:00 am, bring the item''
Is all it says, Helen sighs she knows very well that she could just run off with the diamond but would probably be killed for her disobedience. Why she ever thought it was a good idea to conspire with dangerous criminals was beyond her. Maybe it was because they promised her something she couldnt pass up. Helen turns and sprints as soon as the sirens blare ceased.
The wind was coldI had no jacket to keep her warm and cursed under her breath wondering how it was possible for them to be lat when they set the time. She checks her phone again, 1:30, where are they? Helen rubs her arms and take deep breaths watching as her warm air flows into the cold atomasphere becoming visible. I feel nerves surge through my cold body a thought crosses my mind that maybe I don't have to give it to them at all maybe for once i can do something right, for this world which gave me nothing. I look over at a cold damp edge of a cliff beside me. Ive been set up
I loosen my grip of my hand, the diamond falls and i let the sirens take me
